I know this is an old thread, but what are the laws on bringing animals back to the UK from this event?

Good question, but what animals are you specifically refering to?
The Kent group "Just me and my Tortoise" has a presentation by Tim Luffman and another colleague from the CITES enforcement team. This would make a good question to ask at this meeting. Last edited by Geomyda; 30-03-2010 at 07:06 PM. |

Leopard tortoises and Geckos. I know people make trips out to this even to buy, but I was wondering if you require a licence since you are moving live animals.

as long as you declare them and have the correct CITES/DWA paperwork (if a CITES/DWA species) then you can bring what you like back from Hamm

Basically you can bring back any torts or reptiles but no rodents or mammals. I didn't beleive fats when he told me so I went along with him and sure enough, I'm sat here looking at my lovely 2 now Horsefileds so he was right!!!!!

You can go on the official coaches or there are loads of people on forums etc that arrange coaches. Generally you will find them advertised on RFUK.
I went with Fats on a coach that was arranged by JC reptiles pet shop in Lincoln, there was various pickups so I just went to my closest one and met it there. This meant we also got a queue jump ticket so get to have a quiet 1st lap of the place before the hoards of buyers arrived. I defo recommend it, had such a fab time. That's also where I met the contact that I am now buying some radiated torts from, so a good trip actually!!!
