P Plates ?
Does anyone know if it would be ok for me to put them on our car? I passed my test years ago but have only driven a automatic for some years, our new car is a manual and I need some practise with hubby before I'd feel confident again. I tried at the weekend but felt hassled by cars up my backside and wondered if its legal for me to put P plates on when I'm having a go. I took my test in a manual and did drive one for years but have forgotten the gears etc probably due to old age.

As far as I know its ok for you to use them. I also find slamming the brakes on stops those people driving too close , or if you are feeling under pressure, and we all do at some time behind the wheel, I always pull over & let them go.
Good luck with it & I am sure it won't be long before you feel confident |

thanks, I gave up manuals because I felt more confident in auto's but we now have a caravan and needed a manual to pull it, I only need to be able to occassionally go to the shop, never very far, only a mile or so. Hubby may have to have a hernia op and won't be able to drive for a while so I'll have to even if its just the shopping, there's only so much I can carry on my bike. We can't afford to have two cars for my very infrequent use and I don't mind biking but don't want to totally forget how to, I'm thinking about a lesson if I don't get on.

I'm training for my advanced motorcycle test
And I thought I'd Google it as I was unsure, seems It could be a good idea, but maybe a refresher lesson or Test plus would help ur confidence and keep u safe To care for ur family, happy driving |

i bought those green ones for when you've just passed your test and i found that people just drive closer and and try to intimidate you more, but i'm sure you are still allowed to use them.xx

As they're an optional, it's perfectly OK to use them. ED found them helpful to get people to give her a bit more space.
You could also consider asking a driving instructor for a couple of hours tuition to give you more confidence... They are used to doing this
