I got £60 and 3 points for driving 4 miles over the limit. After the initial madness I calmed down and realised that I did it so I cant complain. Still drives me mad when you see all the little chavs burning around and never seem to get caught

This is probably a really dumb question, but do you have a probabtionary period to get through now once you have passed your driving test? Sorry its just I saw a few of you talking about it?
yes once you pass the test you are on probation for 2 years, if you get more than 6 points within that time you lose your lisence and have to resit both the thoery and practical tests.
ive got 3 points now, and dont intend to get anymore, im about 9 months into my probation, so still got a while to go.

my poor old mum got caught out a few years ago with a speed camera, doing 34 in a 30. She got a call at 3am from our local hospice to say my grandad was dying and could we get there asap. she got 'flashed' 50yds from the entrance to the hospice. It's a good job it wasn't set further back up the road, I dread to think what her speed was!!!

Thankfully we only just made it and we all got to say goodbye....

She still got the fine and points tho.

A fair few years back I got caught doing *ahem* 88 in a 60, and I was still accelerating. Luckily for me I had a laser detector, so I realised I was being lased and eased off. It would of been a proper nasty fine otherwise!

Hey, could be worse, if you lived in North Koria your whole family would be hoyed in the clink with visits from Mr big. I got court a couple of years ago by a mobile and was offered a course instead of points. It does make you see how damaging speeding can be. I was doing 36 in a 30.

I am off to the Speed Awareness course for the second time next week last time I went was over 3 years ago so I can do it again now but I noticed it is now more expensive to do the course (£80) it used to be £60, the same as the fine. The funny thing is that I was caught on my way to Devon Tortoise Group meeting!
