Default varnish

i have just had a new 4ft tortoise table built i really want to treat it my tortoise has the habit of spilling its water or sitting in it and splashing it everywhere i am wanting to make it water proof i am unsure what varnish to use please could anyone give me advice thankyou

The best varnish to use is marine varnish as it's waterproof.

I use yacht varnish, I suppose its the same stuff as marine varnish, I give the base 3 coats with a light sanding inbetween, it just makes it more hardwearing. And the sides 2 coats then let it cure for a few days.

I use vinyl on the floor of it, cut to exact size, no other treatment. the water dish sits on a slate floor tile. but yes, yacht varnish and marine varnish will be the same thing. Writernick is the expert on varnish, he works in the varnish plant
