I have to agree. Why bother with all the time and effort for an enclosure that within days of having him you will think is too small (trust me). My sulcata can do the 320ft circumfrence of my garden in under two minutes. In four movements he covers the 30" tank he is currently in. I know yours is smaller but it wont be for long, either go huge straight away or keep things cheap and easy until you go huge. Most people have tortoise tables at least 4' x 2' for hatchlings nevermind a fast growing sulcata. In the end its up to you but were just trying to help.

Did you see this that a SW member is selling?
Tort Table on Ebay I still think a Rubbermaid tub is the best bet, but if you want something nice-looking, this is larger than what you were talking about, and quite attractive. |

I hear you all loud and clear and it's good to have so many different opinions
I like the idea of a rubermade tub and I saw your set up on housing, but Im not sure we have those or call them those here, but im sure our B&Q type places have plenty stuff like that. However we have decided to use the Ferplast 100 which is just over 3 foot by 2 foot. There was one new on ebay for £40 including posting, and the cage part will keep the cats away, if they were ever bothered enough to move and take a look ! Still going to check out BQ plastic stuff, as I'd rather not go for wood with so many different opinions just to have to dispose of it in a few months, and the Ferplast will come in afterwards for more babies or rodents, so not a waste of money ! Thanks again and will post some photos when it's all set up and smart. Tara

Hi,
I use the Galizzi Rodent Cage Mezzo (about half way down the page) http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodents/cages/rabbit_cage It's great - really sturdy and the shelf underneath is good for storing things on. And the tray is deep enough that you can build a ramp up to another level in it. The wire framework over the top is great for hanging lights from. |
