Tort on his back :)
I was always concerned that my THH (dwarf hermann) would tip himself on his back and not be able to correct himself!
BOOM! He is big into climbing, he loves trying to escape, it is his passion, when he was one year old he popped himself over onto his back and I watched to see if he could correct himself. after about 8 mins he couldn't so I decided to change his box (table) layout to help prevent it. Anyway, he still climbed and when bored the walls were fine. Today, I watched him climb, fall backwards onto his back, rest for 30 seconds, then begin his correction process! I called my wife to watch because I was amazed, (although I have seen similar on youtube) he can do it! He tipped himself back onto his feet and promptly continued to climb! If I get chance in the future I will video it! |

All normal behaviour for tortoises, all tortoises do this when they are small, and exploring. They will also climb up plants that are near edges or fences. Once they get a little larger, they will only tip over now and again.

My adult horsfield goes through a period of falling on her back, recently she has been in a climbing mood and falls on her back often, she can correct herself though, she will go through this then calm down lol x
