Sometimes their eyes look like that when there sleeping, I can't tell if there puffy or not? Are they closed most of the time then? X

Is he outside? or indoors? They look ok unless there is discharge? some of mine are even nearly translucent. just make sure in hibernation he doesn't get too cold as eyes freeze first (water), can be nasty.

Could you provide some more information please, so people can try & help Sandor?

What is his substrate please? What temperature is his housing: warm end, cool end & what lighting are you using Have you had him long? & what has his diet been like? Is he active/eating at the moment?

Sorry for so many questions but your answers will help give a better idea of how to help him

The temps are at 21-22c at the coolend and 32 under his basking light i also have a uvb bulb over him
the substrate ive got atm is pellets, i think its compressed hay. Im gettin top soil soon within the next few days
Ive had him about.. 2 weeks on tuesday now
at first he was eating alright and he was stomping about when in a huff (after his bath and such) but hes been sleeping alot now and not even bothering to head for his hide away hole :/

His set up sounds fine Its difficult for you to know his usual behaviour when you haven't had him long. Might he be responding to the shortening hours of daylight? Horsfields (well a lot of med species ) tend to notice & can wind down now ready for hibernation.

I note you said "one eye" is it only one eye that is closed? Whats his history? Does he usually hibernate? Has he been well cared for?

Well i got him from a petstore, but they really love there animals lol. least that what i picked up from my time there

Yeh it was just the one eye, looked a little gunky to, but cleared up after i awoke him, i dont think hes ever hibernated the pet shop said he wasnt that old so i guess maybe hes over 1 year at the most maybe 2

hes currently under his basking light sleeping, i hope he at least stomps into his bed when his light gets turned off

Mine doesn't like a hide, I've had him almost 4 months and he's never used one, he's had 2 different ones and even when I've put him in, he comes back out. He sleeps where he wants to and if something is in his way, he moves it. I may buy 1 more to try, but think I'm wasting my time. Maybe yours doesn't like a hide either? Darwin just digs down where he feels like.
I'm not experienced enough to comment on the eye thing x
