Testudo hermanni hermanni
I am looking for a female or incubated for female THH for early next year. I am prepared to travel up to 60 miles of Whitchurch Shropshire or use a recommended reptile courier.
Either reply in here, pm me or email me at thelly@thelly.co.uk Thank you Last edited by egyptiandan64; 03-11-2013 at 11:26 PM. |

Females are always in demand. Sadly, males less so.
If you had been looking for one of those I would have been happy to help. Good luck in your search! Though 'Incubated for female' might easily lead to disappointment in a few years.

Hi Becci. When the males start to mature into juveniles they often nip other tortoises on the legs, mount them and generally practice being males. They will often do this to any other tortoise regardless of its sex.
This means that sometimes they can't be kept together with other tortoises or at least you get problems at certain times of year. Females in general are placid and peaceful creatures. I'm generalizing and some males are fine in pairs or even groups so long as everyone knows what the pecking order is. There are always lots of proven males around since they do tend to make life more of a challenge for keepers.

Hello,
Oh I see. Thank you. I think my mums were 2 males and they fought all the time. Mine is incubated to be female but who knows. He's (I say he as he has a boys name) only 8 months old. x

Just wanted to add that the males are often great pets as they are active and nosey tortoises.
