Are you bathing her? It would be a good idea to pop some Reptoboost in her water to help stimulate her appetite |

It depends entirely if the temps are ideal...not just the basking temps but the ambient temps too. It also depends on if the tortoise is in good health. I know that the sore mouth thing (the name evades me) can occur after hibernation according to reports. In this case you need to determine what is the cause.
Ask yourself is the tortoise active? check the mouth? is this the routine she is used to ?or does she normally come out of hibernation when the temps are naturally higher? How much weight did she or didnt she lose in hibernation? was she well last year? All of these questions and more about your tortoise and usual habits should give you the answer you are looking for.

What kind of temperatures is the tortoise currently being kept at? Have you been giving it regular soakings? What kind of setup do you have?
What are you feeding it? Forgot to ask... what is her current length and her weight?

Dont worry too much if you dont see her drink, its still worth it. Some of mine stick their heads under the water for ten minutes post hibernation but others I dont visibly notice. Although there is debate about how or whether water is absorbed I weigh my hatchlings (easier to tell if they only weigh 40gm!) before and after a bath and my personal belief is that thye do, plus it is a stimulant.
I have some juvenile Horsfields, not hibernated before decided to get them up after 7 weeks hiberantion, bough them indoors in their tiny internal boxes left them in their table in boxes with a lettuce leaf and they were up eating like they'd never been down the next morning without heat or light! Obviously I still bathed, weighed, did a health check etc and have the heating etc right, but that's possibly just cos they're greedy Horsfields. I dont have the experiunece of other species eating until a good 24-48 hours have passed, so I wouldnt panic just yet. hopefully with the advice in the thread she will be ok. Also if she has hibernated befire which Im guessing she has, and as long as she weighs more now than when you got her up last year, there is hopefully nothing wrong (except maybe environment-as per advice of others in this thread) Good Luck-keep up posted, steph |
