The problem is people who have an older tortoise like it to go to someone they know. That is what happens with us. if you have kept a tortoise for a long time it becomes aprt of the family and people prefer them to go to those who already have them. We have several willed to us when their owners die!

if you can't find any then I'm afraid that you'll just have to be patient with what you have, the time will pass and as these are such long term animals anyway then waiting a few years is part of the package of having them.

Hi Sherri,
Unfortunately thats life, we dont always get what we would like in this life when we want, but everything does come to those who wait. I am patiently waiting and have been for the past number of years now for a suitable male terrestris type spur thigh but to no avail so far, but I believe when the time is right one will come along. It does get frustrating at times but you keep plodding on, hoping that one day you will find what you are looking for. Your turn will happen, I know it will.

It often does take a long time, I'd love a female ibera and have been looking for years. All I can do is re-iterate what the others have said and sometimes you just have to be patient. Very patient.
I also feel the more knowledge and experience you have, the larger enclosure/garden can also help, because if someone is going to re-home their tortosie it can be a very upsetting and emotional time for them. If they know it is going to a knowledgable home, to a lovely garden and a lovely life it is of some comfort to them. |
