Hi, i currently have this tortoise, which im unfortunatly trying to sell. Im having some problems with its "identity" though. I bought the tortoise as a Marginated, this is what the pet shop sold me it as and this is what the certificate says.
I then advertised it and ive had numerous emails saying its a herman! can anyone please identify what it may be!

Also, for my knowledge, ive never sexed it! was told you couldnt tell till there older, if any1 could sex it that would be great too.

many thanks to anybody whom can help me
james

Hello James as I thought definately a Hermans. Hope you can get somewhere with the pet shop now.

Here are a couple of photo's of my Marginated as promised:

I think im right in saying only Marginated's have these sets of triangles on their Plastrons. (Hermans certainly dont) So as yours wont, that is another pointer for them!

Whoops, trust me Dan! (Just trying to give James some pointers to help him when he goes back to the pet shop, who are still claiming said tort is actually a marginated, as it has a "slight skirt!" )

I suppose if they still wont accept it isnt a Marginated that they sold him, he might have to go to defra?

Yes I think going to DEFRA might be the best idea. It sounds like the petshop isn't getting or giving out the right A10s and should probably be looked into.
No problem Lynn and yes only a Mrginated's plastron looks exactly like that.
