Well, the top one will be male... and the bottom one could be anything (not necessarily a tortoise even)

is it only males that mount? If so I have 2 boys, they are in this postion often to each other

Probably still females Lynne my Mrs Oscar does this she is an absolute madam! I have now got a little herman female who was extremely quiet when I first got her but has gradually put on weight, found her feet & is following in Oscar's footsteps as it were. Albert my blind tort ploughs through anyone/thing & the others dont seem to mind & just accept him but Hermoine is a little git & has to battle till she tips him up!! I
I think Herman females are the most likely to be like this as I have never seen my Margies do it, they all get along very well. |

I have a female hermanni hermanni who is a right madam, and regularly likes to show the male who is boss She is extremely vocal about it as well

They look like females from the plastrons to me, but the squeaking does it for Clyde IMO. That squeak as a male attempts to go all the way is unmistakable
