hi Mike
welcome from me too! I would consider the housing I have available for them, hibernation process etc then decide on the species of torts! I would also contact breeders rather than pet shops! A breeding pair would be like jumping into hot water, gravid females, incubator, temps etc... Well done on doing your research first! I hope you enjoy the site! Wendy |

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Shelled Warriors, you have already had some great advice. Breeding tortoises is a subject to be researched thoroughly and you will need to get your husbandry right for tortoises to be happy before they start breeding. Ade

Hi, you are in the right place to gain answers to any questions you may have. Good idea to get one tortoise and then try breeding later

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Shelled warriors! I'm new to tortoise's and after i did my research i went with hermmani hatchling's, if you do decide in the end to go for young torts , download the booklet from this link; www.tlady.clara.net/TortGuide/index.htm The breeder i got my babes from, gave this link to me, its a great book and helps with all the basics you need to know while setting up and looking after your tort. If you need to know where to get a young U.K. bred tort log on to this sight ;http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/. they have a U.K. breeders list. And good luck with all your research, its great to hear from someone who wants to get it all right before buying their tort, whatever you decide on, i think its going to be one lucky tort!!! Hope that helps! Rachael
