I don't think it's toxic or anything but I kinda think it's not really very good for them for some other reason.

Edit.. apparently okay as a snack but nothing more than that

We feed either grated carrot or butternut squash to ours every second week as a natural wormer..........seems to suit my group quite happily.

I thought that if used as a wormer and to be effective...it had to be used over a period of time such as a number of consequtive days....

maybe its because in carrots its vitamin A that works, and so because they have such slow digestive systems it does work over several days???

Dawn, I keep reading posts about butternut squash being a natural wormer but I've never come across any articles about it. Do you know if it's in a book or something? I've read articles about chicory and pumpkin being wormers. BS is easier to come by all year round so I would use it if it was definitely recommended

Hmmm interesting will keep a eye on this thread as i would prob use it if it is def a natural wormer and wont had any adverse effects on the torts if they did have it occasionally.

Chicory is (for mammals at least) as I read an article and posted it on here some time ago but as with most things, too much isn't good
