Default Vet near Bury St. Edmunds

Does anyone know of a good tortoise vet near Bury St. Edmunds? I'm looking for one for someone who has a tortoise that is not well, and I'm not sure that her current vet has diagnosed the condition properly. I can see on the SW list of recommended vets that there is one called Mulberry Court Vet Surgery in Sudbury Suffolk. Has anyone used this practice, and can you recommend a specific vet for tortoises there? Many thanks!

Nina

Hi Nina,

I've heard good things about a vet called Mr Ben Bennett at Colne Valley Veterinary Practice Ltd, off Maudlyn Road, Colchester, Essex, CO1 2EZ, Tel-01206 794695, http://www.colnevalleyvets.co.uk/

Thats about an hour from Bury St Edmunds I think.

Thanks so much for bumping this up, Dave! Just to let people know, I'm looking on behalf of someone who has a young horsfield, who has had a really bad problem with swollen eyes, and has been treated with two types of eye drops, the latest being neomycin cream, for four weeks, without much result -- they get better and then get puffy again. The tortoise also has very weak back legs, and although she can use them, there is obviously a problem. Plus the tort has a little difficulty feeding -- makes little open and closing mouth movements in the air, but misses the food a lot of the time, and when she does get food in her mouth she seems to have some trouble swallowing.
The owner has seen her local vet, who prescribed the eye medicine, but he hasn't addressed the problem with the back legs, and I find that very worrying. Hence the request for a specialist tortoise vet within a reasonable distance of Bury St Edmunds.

Many thanks,
