Default 1st baby cockatiel died

My one and only (so far) baby who hatched on sunday was sadly found dead this morning, we think its what we feared that it was simply overwhelmed by to many adults, I'm not sure what we can do about that and if the other eggs hatch probably the same thing will happen, I'm sure theres not meant to be 3 adults in one nest it was very hot in there. Poor little thing it was so tiny and had stalky yellowish feathers comming through, does anyone have any suggestions? if we got another male so we had 2 pairs do you think that would help at the moment we have 2 hens and 1 cock, so far the lineolated is still sitting and as theres only 2 of them and plenty of room we may have more luck with them.

So sorry to hear that you lost one - hopefully you'll have more success with the others. Sometimes the first ones are just a bit too weak to make it,

We have had similar every year now with our doves (they were "rescues" from a very bad pet shop, were nearly dead when we got them, & never managed to fly). Either they tried too early or too late and the babies died because it was too cold, or they overheated in the summer. Then the Mum died leaving Dad alone for a few months.
After a while he started to get visits from a semi-wild lady dove who wanted to join him, so we let her into the aviary & both seemed happy with the arrangement (she wasnt ringed, but didnt seem wild enough to be worldly wise - cats nearly got her a few times.

Last summer we finally had a little one who was almost full sized, just thinking about flying, then bonfire night came and he died of fright. Then Dad went into a depression and died a week later.
We now have an aviary with just the Mum on her own, so we have set her up with a sputnik so that she can come & go, & hopefully find herself a new partner to bring home (either that or she can find someone new & fly off).

i would not put another bird in at the moment,
not all birds are good parents and you may find that they never bring a chick up
cock birds are suppose to sit the nest during the day, hens on a night, did the dead chick have any food in its crop they may not have fed it as they seem confused to who does what job, you could take out the chicks once hatched and handrear them, its quite easy

once this nest is clear, you could maybe get a new bird or you could give them pot eggs to sit on

you could also consider moving out one of the hens until the chicks are up
you also need to give them some "wet" food while rearing young as they wont manage on seed/nuts

I am sorry to hear about your little chick Anne. Years ago my dad used to breed birds, he used to remove the other birds from the cage, leaving only the mum and the eggs/babies together. Then when he got longer cages he would put a divider up to keep the others away from the mum and eggs/baby.
I hope you are luckier with the next baby bird.
