Help with breeding -
I am to collect 2 Horsfield tortoises (breeding pair) this week. They are both 15 years old and male was purchased 6 months later from a different breeder at bottom end of country. Female last laid about 2 and a half months ago so what I am wanting to know is should I expect eggs soon? I have a double tier tortoise table and I cannot afford to furnish top tier till after Christmas, although I can get hold of an incubator should one be needed for eggs.
Thanks

By furnishing it I mean to put male in and keep separate.

How will you keep the male separate if you cannot afford to furnish the top of the table all you need is bedding and a cardboard hide for starters if you keep the area warm.
You say they are a breeding pair have they had hatchlings together? Laying eggs does not necessarily mean they will be fertile. Are you looking at hibernating that could also solve all your problems?
