Default My new tort hasnt eaten since i got her....

I got my new tortoise on tuesday and she still hasnt eaten or i havent even seen her drink even though i bath her every night.

Is this normal? The person i got her from said she was eating normally and liked pansies and dandilions so i've tried her with them but nope, she wont open her mouth for me.

She's an 18month horsefield.

Sounds like she's just settling in, I think it can take a while after a big change. I would just keep up the baths and keep offering food

Just keep up her baths and putting her weeds in Jo, she will come round in time.

Yep mine were the same, don't panic!! I've had my babies since the 9th June, and Mustard has ony been spotted eating once which was today so it can take time, I'd love to know what makes them just wake up and decide they've settled in though, good luck with her! x

Dont worry my Horsfield did exactly the same, took a week or so before she was eating lots again. Sometimes I think they take water in through the nose when they are bathing so you might not actually see them drink!

Yeah they do, they just sit there under the water line, they're not drowing... its something to do with how their mouth and nose is joined, I read, I don't remember exactly! They're adorable one they start washing themselves, mine just sit there and start wiping their little faces with their arms n bob up and down.
