Default Sainsbury Christmas ad

This sent shivers up my spine and brought a tear to my eye.

It's so poignant and emotional. I've just been studying a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on 'WW1 Trauma and Memory' with the Open University and it was a great reminder not just to remember the Glorious Dead but those who survived the war and were left with horrendous injuries and shell shock.
That advert definitely brought a tear to my eye too.

Well done Sainsburys, by far better than all the others put together . I think they've got it right, very fitting, and done really well.

It is done well, there are no products forced on us and the simply "Sainsburys" at the end is subtle and understated.

Can't say I would have given him the whole bar of chocolate though.

I like it too but apparently there have been 240 complaints to the advertising standards agency.

That's a real shame. If you read the comments below there are some from ex military saying they and facebook pages are supporting it.

I thought it was very good. The thing is, they will never please everyone.
I agree, much better than the others put together x

Its a good ad, but at the end of the day its to get you to buy from Sainsburys. So it depends on which side of the fence you are sitting.

I understand the idea, but it is factually incorrect to some extent, and I just don't like the whole idea of using the war for advertising-not that Sainsbury's are the only culprit, but I just feel it is a too sensitive issue to use for an advert, even if the chocolate bar profits itself are going to charity.
