Personally, I've heard so many horror stories I'd only rehome off people I know look after them properly like on here or someone who could vouch for them, or buy a hatchling. I'd be worried about big vets bills that could come my way if they haven't been cared for properly.

But, that's only my thoughts for what I would do to keep them myself. I think it's great when people rescue torts or like we did with those from Paignton. But, I'm not experienced/knowledgeable enough to treat illness yet. xx

Cheers Becci. I always have a look for them but I'm still weighing up long term costs and whether I can look after them properly for life (mine that is!). Have been researching and picking members' brains for a while. Ideally 3-8ish years. Also in process of moving house so it may have to wait.

Whether its a scam or not, although not sure that it is, those tortoises look to be in pretty poor shape, and in need of help. I think if it was a scam they would have used photographs of healthy tortoises.

Yes, you don't want to be building a shed then moving!

Good luck xx

Got a reply from the first one, wants to know which tort I'm interested in. What should I say to weed out a scam?

Done. Asked if I can view them as I'm looking at getting a new species but haven't decided which one yet. Also asked about chips and paperwork.
