I wanted to be home to watch the whole process suze, but had to go back to work, the first egg wasn't fully out when I had to leave her, so by the time I came home from work she had finished and filled the hole back up, it was a good job I spotted her doing it otherwise I would never have known!

You must be an old hand at all this now after 25 years lol

I have now marked the eggs and placed them carefully in a tub on top of vermiculite and back in the airing cupboard until tomorrow......excited much x

How exciting and so unexpected, Bev! Bless Roxy, she must be feeling so tired. When Tabitha surprised me with her egg, I cleaned it off with a piece of damp kitchen towel and wiped it over with a dry piece to dry it. I'm afraid my experience is very limited but I can relate to the excitement and anxiety a surprise egg creates.
Good luck with the eggs. I'll keep everything crossed that they're fertile and Spart has been clever and had his wicked way without you knowing.

Well you deserve a third. They say things come in threes, so hopefully in a week's time the eggs will be chalking and looking fertile.
Enjoy your Chinese, Bev. You deserve it! xx

Three eggs is the average amount for a horsfield to lay, if she covered the hole it usually means she has finished, she may lay again in about a month.
I do wash mine as it makes it easier to candle them later on, I also weigh each one and log everything in a book, they get coded with a letter and number so I can tell at a glance which order they will hatch in, my logbook looks like this....

Gladys. Laid 1.5.15

Egg A1= 18g. Hatched 1.7.15. = 16g
Egg A2= 20g. Infertile
Egg A3= 19g. Hatched 3.7.15 = 17g
