Well now that's a whole other debate in itself...what one person thinks is decent behaviour might not necessarily be what the next person thinks. For example I do not find it offensive when people drop swear words into their conversation. Some people do, who's right and who's wrong!

My friend is married to a police man...Ooooh I've got some stories. In fact most of my friends are professionals, there's a barrister, a surveyor, a fireman a graphic artist to name but a few. If they are living by 'these conducts' then The Pope is not Catholic! lol

(If this post comes across as sarcastic or argumentative, It's not meant to be.)

if the only reason people come to your party is because there is drink are they really your freinds? how can a teacher teach good manners/how to behave/good morals etc if they can't or don't have the same self control that they expect their pupils to have?or doesn't a teachers job include teaching their pupils how to behave anymore, you can only gain respect and trust if you practise what you preach. What do you think the parents of the children in your school expect from the teachers, have the standards dropped that much that they wouldn't mind their children seeing their teacher all over facebook or supposing one of your underage pupils came into a pub you were in, would you say anything or maybe invite then to join you? I know when I was at school my teacher was still my teacher whether I saw them at school or out and as such deserved the same respect however if I came accross them in a pub or similar my respect for them would have flown out the window and if I then answered them back in the class how could they expect otherwise.

Thank you for joining in the friendly debate.

For the record I have self control.

lets just say then that theres obviously a difference in values/whatever between my generation which to many may be seen as old (but still know how to enjoy oneself) and the younger generation, maybe when you get to be my age you'll change as well, I certainly used to be like you but a lot younger when I was as I married very young and had a baby which forced me to grow up very quickly. We never had the money to carry on with the single way of life even if we'd wanted to and I suppose by the time the children had left home then we had no desires to return to that way of life, nowdays people marry far later, have more money and better lives, access to childcare/nuserys and have more money to spend on socialising etc whether its a better life will always be debated as each of us only ever knows the way things are for ourselves.

You have just quoted every teachers current unwritten code of conduct! I have followed those rules all my life and so have all my school colleagues... couldn't agree more.

The new code I'm afraid invades that privacy.

The world would be a very boring place if we were all the same. That's why we celebrate diversity.

We have a lot more in common than you think!

Its all a matter of perspective...........but common sense and self respect are essential.

Facebook is a death trap for most professions

I just hate the whole idea of a profession in which you are dictated to or under threat to behave at all times! We are ALL human.
If this rule applies to teachers, it should apply to everyone? How many others professions have this requirement or be forced to leave a job? Isnt it hard enough to encourage people to become teachers?
You are running a risk of having ancient old dinosaurs for teachers lol... then you will be saying its too old fashioned!
IMO this has nothing to do with moderation... its more to do with enforcement of moderation, and that to me is unacceptable.
