Default 2008 Eggs!

January 5, 2008

My 24 year old plus 3 toed box turtle Clyde has been restless lately and I have found her numerous times digging on the floor of her enclosure with her back legs. Each time I would take her out and put her in an aquarium with warm soil in hopes she would dig her nest and lay eggs. But nothing!

So tonight I dug a hole for her and stuck her butt in it. That did the trick! She dug her nest and layed 3 eggs pictured below. They should hatch in a few months in the incubator.

Clyde digging her nest for 3 eggs.

The eggs look to be good Danny. All turned a nice white color, the eggs had dents in them, but they have all popped out. I candled them last week and it appears they have embryos in them.

Clyde was restless again last night and I feel more eggs in her. She laid 10 fertile ones last year.
