Yep Dad does have a hole drilled in his shell and no it wasn't done by me. He had the hole when i aquired him 30yrs ago.Ppl used to tie them up with string to stop them dissapearing (although it didn't work with Timmy ).

Great pictures..... really love the babies and mum and dad look great.

Yes I'm aware of holes being drilled into shells, I am a child of that era and it was commonplace then. Don't know why I was just surprised to see it as I couldn't see how old the torts were.

Dazza,
Mom has been laying eggs for about 10 yrs but its only the last 5 yrs i've managed to hatch any out.
Have had Dad on and off (he's been passed around the family a bit) for the last 30yrs and he still seems the same size now as he was when i found him.
Veebee/Deb
You'll have to pop round in the spring and check them out. Hope you like cactus too as any visitor to my greenhouse always goes away with one or two.

The Identification of these is confusing me a bit would you have pictures of the Plastron (underside) and carapace form the top so we can see the patterns of the carapace. Do you know anything about the Species and "region" of them ???

They are beutiful animals.

Dazza,
Please forgive my ignorance, but do you want pics of the young or the adults? Either way i'll try and sort some pics out for you when i get back from work or over the weekend.
As for knowing anything about the species/region i can honestly say i know nothing about them, thats one of the things i was hoping to get you guys to help me out with.
