Default Tricky Situation

I have a med spur thigh who is around 40yrs old, and he seems to have developed a problem with his eyes, they seem to be gunky... and struggles to open them, but the problem i have is that i cant afford the vets as my dad recently died and i now have been thrown in the deep end with looking after my siblings and the house, and ive never done this before so struggling with money atm, i was wondering if there was anything i could try??

Or try cleaning/bathing them with Contact Lens Solution its sterile and helps tired eyes etc.
Make sure you use one cotton ball per eye, wiping from the center outwards. If you use the same cotton ball for both eyes yoe may pas the gunky problem backwards & for wards.
Hope this helps

I noted down an eye ointment that was successful for a keeper a couple of years ago. (just in case) 1 drop each eye twice a day, a few days to a week should do it.

Chloromycetin (Chloramphenicol) I got this for one of my dogs.

Goldeneye seems to have the same active ingredient.

All I know is that it was recommended and worked for another keepers tort and it clears up my dogs eye in a few days.

Just dont tell them ifs for a tortoise or they wont sell you it!!! from experience lol!!!

Quinn needed some antibiotics to help clear his eyes, cant remember name of it but it wasnt expensive from vet. You could always phone and ask vet if he will sell you some of the stuff ( I will find the name of it) without having a consultation im sure it was only couple of pounds.

An ointment or drops with the active ingredient that Levi mentioned would be great. Its antibiotic & usually very effective. Both golden eye ointment & optrex "infected eye drops" both contain it & most chemists do a non branded make too. Make sure you specify you want antibiotic ones. (any problems with them selling it you, try amazon, its same price on there, even with p & P ) The trick is to use them as often as possible.

I used them on a tort with long standing eye problem I aimed for once every 2 hours as thats how long it takes for the bacteria to multiply again! I managed it on the whole, but prior to that got no results with 2 or 3 times a day.
