Help - with rabbit cage set up
Hi - We have just bought one of the large bunny cage for Karma (the children could not see her in the other table) It is the one that measures 120cm in length.
What I would like to ask is where do people put the lighting etc? My hubby wants to attatch a plank of wood across the top (outside) of the cage & add the uv light (I use the reptiglo tube)) plus spotbulb into this wood from the inside ... do you think this will work? She is kept in our utility room on the work surface at the moment & her lights are screwed directly into the units above (this used to be our kitchen before we extended) so just normal "spacing". Unfortunately the cage wont fit where her table is at present hence the reason for needing to attatch the lighting to the cage as there are no units above. Please any thought/advice. Thank you.

should work as long as the uv light covers most of the cage and the spot/heat in just one area, one question though does your utility room have heating, its still fairly cold at night and although we are having lovely weather at the moment the room temp still needs to be around 70c with a slight drop at night it might be to cold if the weather changes and certainly to cold in the winter.

thank you for the reply - the utility room is warm (it was previously our kitchen) so has a radiator etc
The bunny cage is 46cm in height but the uv tube will be inside this & screwed into the wood plus when the sustrate is in she will be nearer to the uv source I think I should have posted this in the housing section if someone could move it for me please .. thanks

When i was using a rabbit cage i put the uv strip with reflector inside the cage kind of dangling at the height i wanted then secured the wire with ties to the cage.
...if you get want i mean. it was the whole lenght of the cage.

I have a Uv tube and its inside the cage aswell with cable ties and a reflector, The heat bulb hangs down too.
I think aslong as the bulbs are 12"-14" away from the tortoise it's ok. Id take a photo of mine but it isn't here As you know tucker is on holiday's until sunday But....When he get's back i will take a pic of mine for you if your still unsure

Here you go this is what tuckers is like....i think the UV bulb is 12" from tucker with the reflector the Uv tube is inline with the white part of the heat bulb where the end of the bulb goes in.
The Uv is tide with cable ties around the Uv holder....Then the heat bulb is just through the top bit of the cage that opens held with a bit of tape

I forgot to mention aswell If you got a stand with it.....
My dad has put a screw where the door is in the plastic part and screwed it to the stand to give it extra support, because i've had my cage since christmas and the weight of the soil has made the plastic go a bit out of shape. The screw on the front and the back gives it extra support because of the weight Although you don't have to screw it if you don't want to but in time the plastic will start to bend.
