Little bit of a beak through

My tortoises beak is getting a little long and i dont feel comfortable clipping it yet. Ive tried big cuttlefish, small ones, weathered ones, ones run under the tap, ive even tried serving her food on a cuttlefish plate. today alittle bit of a break through cuttlefish with dandelion rubbed all over it, success she took her first bite!

if this little trickery continues can it wear down itself, or will it still need clipping. I guess my question is can cuttlefish be a solution as well as a preventative?

I used a nail file on my tortes beak, she was not happy and went into a huff lol although she came out of it when I waved a dandy in front of her lol

the dandelion, the magical wand of forgiveness i think a nail file definitely seems less intimidating from my perspective.

Oh my goodness! How do I know if beak needs trimming?

Thanks timeout - the web site was really helpful. Also I looked at the you tube on how to trim a beak and I feel confident to do this if I need to. I like the way she has used Boo, her shy tortoise, to demonstrate how to get their head out of the shell - good trick! My 2 are not at all shy, but I think they could be when they see the emery board!

I also carried on looking at the other tortoise clips - amazing. I recommend everyone has a look as I now understand the term 'shelled warriors'. No fear of dogs and cats! Have I been overprotective? I only allowed my dog to sit and watch them in their secure outside pen. Loved the first clip of the tortoise chasing a model car.

they say dogs and torts don't mix. saying that I have been round dogs and torts all my life and even had torts that will come out and sit with one of my dogs, bury under its neck also when she is laid out on the floor and she sleeps on him. Spent ages trying to find him once which is how I know. Emery boards....mmm still not convinced but if it works then that's good. CB

Nail clippers, large. Does front and more importantly sides also. saying that i do tend to leave mine till have to do them, as long as don't hinder eating. Think emery would be stressful but then again I cant even do my own nails on an emery board so might just be me ! CB
