ohhhh... Elaphe spiloides(i refuse to change). They are found near where I live. I've found a few in Mississippi.
Good luck with those tortoises. They must be a challenge in the UK but you're ahead of the game considering they do well with a cool period. Quote:

I had a tort who cut his hind leg on the base of his shell. I got an emery board and just took off the sharpe edge. I then used what I use on myself for broken & sore skin TEATREE CREAM and it worked a treat, just a couple of days and the cut was completely healed.
Just thought I would mention it Sue |

Thanks for the comments. I will put a few more photos on later. Borrowed a dremmel from a neighbour with a rotating emery board. The points disappeared in seconds. No sign of bleeding and now nice and round. Took the same (smaller) point off the other one to make sure that I don't have a repeat performance with the other animal.

Fantastic. Once you've done it you can see how easy it is done.

http://s1210.photobucket.com/user/sp...tml?sort=3&o=4 http://s1210.photobucket.com/user/sp...tml?sort=3&o=3 Been so wet that my glasshouse has been flooded most of the summer. They have churned the mud into a soup and spend lots of time submerged in it. The dremmel worked great. |

Not sure of their mass anymore as they have gone being my scales. Last summer they were both around 6kg.

They look as if they've just come back from Glastonbury!
