Hey :)
Hi I've just joined today
 My name is Sammie and I'm 22 years old. I have a horsfield tortoise called Walter who I just got today. Hoping I can meet other tortoise owners on here and get lots of good advice! |

Hello Sammie & Walter.... Welcome to Shelled Warriors - this is a great sitre, make sure you read through all the sections..... theyres some great advice on here. Check out the shelled warriors shop too for loadsa goodies for Walter..... do you have any pictures of walter? Love the name Walter x (but am a jeff dunham fan also)

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure how old Walter is the reptile shop that I got him from didn't tell me. I have to go back there today as the reflector lamp in his table only worked for like an hour! I'll ask them how old he is - I did measure him tho.. he was 9cms (If I measured him correctly) and weighed 114g.
The table came with Repti-Turf Substrate.. I think that is what it's called but I've read that horsfields love the soil and play sand mix so I brought that from the SW shop last night! I've just been out in the garden picking weeds for him to eat (I'm not even sure if it's a he.. just a guess! lol) as the table also came with food pellets but I know that the best thing for tortoises to eat is weeds! He hasn't eaten yet but that is probably because he is settling in. He hasn't had a drink yet either but I am going to give him a bath tonight because I read he will drink in that? And will go to wee lol. It feels like having a newborn baby I keep checking on him making sure that he is alright and worrying that I'm not doing things right! |
