Aw, bless. What would cause a bladder stone so large in such a small tort? It looked like an adult with an egg in the xray to me, but then my eyes are entirely untrained!

It would be a combination of dehydration and a diet high in oxalic acid. The oxaclic acid combines with calcium forming small stones. These can get stuck in the bladder if the tortoise is poorly hydrated (the tortoise would hold onto any water it had in the bladder and the stones would stay there. The stone/stones would be added to over time, sometimes they are passed as just small enough to be passed or held onto and have to have surgery to remove like this Star tortoise.

Goodness! Hard to believe a stone would have long enough to get so big in such a small tort, poor thing.
