oh went on ebay and was looking at the poultry stuff for sale under 25 miles and found someone selling hatching eggs but he went one better and asked if they knew of any pol for sale and the guy gave his mobile and said phone tomorrow,so oh did and bought 3 norfolk grey pol and a 2 yr old norfolk grey x light sussex we think he kept them shut in the coop for 2 days with food & water let them out to free range the garden today and they have laid 3 eggs since we got them,they are really pretty birds the norfolk is supposed to be a rare breed, and the eggs were yummy i had a fried egg sandwich oh was gutted he didnt get a look in and their his birds.

yeah he paid £8 a bird which is what hybrids fetch round here.

Good deal Alison, I like Norfolk greys and they are pretty rare breed.
Terry Depends what strain of light sussex you get the Bantam version are incredible broodies as are the true pure standerad strain but these days most Light sussex offered for sale are commercial hybrid type and the broody desire had been bred out of them in favour of egg producion . D

laraine you should have said we collected 11 eggs today you could of had a load while you were here you can take some home with you when you come next week :P :P :P

Do you not have a milkman mine has his own chickens and sells the eggs. We also have local farms that sell eggs. We buy duck eggs and sometimes goos eggs they are very nice but cost £1.00 each They are nice with a gammon steak and home made chips
