seems like i have good reason to be scared of thunder and lightening

the local paper came yesterday and that huge bang that rattled the windows actually burnt our next door but ones neighbours house down

just wanted to say see it can happen

omg hope your neighbours are all ok people dont understand why thunder and lightning scares me usually go round closing the curtains and turning the tv up just hate it dont know what good it does but i carnt help it,and if im on my own will cover my head with a pillow big baby really

Turning the tv off would be more safer than turning it up!!! Lightning loves TV aerials!!!!

So....the whole TV aeriel thing is TRUE....I thought it was something my mama made up to get me off to bed!!!

don't forget to also unplug your phone line exspecially if your computer is on broadband and yes switch of the TV not turn it up.

You lot sound like my mother.
TV off, phone unplugged, infact everything unplugged.
She never used to be so extreme until the next door neighbours tv got blown across the room during a storm many years ago.

ha ha Rach my nan used to hide all the cutlery, turn all the mirrors around, switch everything off, then hide under the stairs with cotton wool in her ears and a towel over her head. She was terrified.
