I'm starting to feel impatient about your egg now, every time I see you've added to your thread, I'm thinking yes this is it,

Photos of the egg on day 58. I've got a bad feeling about it.
We struggled to get a really clear photo but I hope they're good enough and they certainly show the air pocket at the end of the egg which is concerning me. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

The air pocket is fine Emma I'm not seeing any problems, just that the membrane hasn't pulled down yet. So the little one isn't ready to hatch just yet. When the membrane pulls down, the egg will look empty (as in no dark at all).

Right okay, thanks Dan. That's reassuring.
So will the air pocket stay as it is or will that disappear or get bigger when the membrane pulls down?

That air pocket has nothing to do with the inner membrane that surrounds the tortoise. That's an air pocket between the shell and the white membrane (the inner membrane is clear). It shouldn't get any bigger.

Thanks Dan. Shall I just leave the temperature and humidity as it is - humidity fluctuates between 78 and 83% and temps fluctuate between 31 and 33 degrees.
I'd assumed the membranes were already down because I can't see anything when candling from above anymore and no longer see veins. Finally, from the photos, can you make out the tortoise at all? I really haven't any idea what I'm looking for. In fact, I saw more looking at the photos this evening than I can when I'm looking directly at the egg when I'm candling. Back to the waiting game......

Many thanks Danny. I'll try to stop worrying for a few days.
Maybe I'll pop on another couple of photos at the weekend to see if the egg is doing what it should be. Am I right in thinking that it wouldn't be abnormal for a hermanns egg to not hatch until day 70+? I just assumed that at my temps and humidity levels, the egg would be pipping around now. This little one just wants to make me wait! At least I know that pipping isn't immient if the membranes aren't yet down.
