230v is just the voltage standard. 160w max is border line for a 160w bulb, as Al say's the larger lamp shade handle's 200w. So there's some play left indi wattage

I have a 2x2 table and have the arcadia 100w from what ive seen so far would buy again but i have just brought a new tort table and its 4x2 just wondering if i should get the 160 w or weather 100w should still be ok,sorry for putting on your thread

So, if I'm not being totally thick, I need a larger, higher wattage lamp holder even if mine says max of 160 w???

Yea or no???

Electrics is not a strong point of mine!!!

What size lamp holder is it Ro, Alan know's the diameter size to wattage.

Ok I've measured from one side to the other at the widest part of the lamp shade and it's 7 and a half inches.

it's not my strong point either. I think if it was mine I'd use it because if it says 160w max then the manufacturer will have allowed for a wee bit more I reckon but you may want to go a bit bigger. my one is 25cm wide and 200w max but not sure the width has a lot to do with it or not, it's more the wiring i think
