Thanks Jay! I have a mug with photos of my tort and his name on it (sad I know, but it means I get to look at him while I'm at work) and one of my colleagues said 'ooh, why did you call your tortoise after that big green duck?' - I had to explain that they were thinking of 'Orville'!

what is the book about i know its about tortoise but is it a story or is it info about tortoises

It's about the history of tortoises, and how they have been depicted in art, legends and myths about tortoises, how tortoises have been exploited, the changing face of keeping torts as pets, and famous tortoises. Just about anything that is tort related is in this book And it's not too long with loads of great photos.
The only downside is that while the author has obviously done huge amounts of research on our shelled friends I don't think he owns one himself as he does give some dubious advice (such as torts should be fed fruit and vegetables and young torts are too young to hibernate). Great book though!
