Hi

I dont know how ill Looi is. I have offered to collect the tortoise from Taylor and take it to my own vet, Hannah, in Stoke on Trent - all together about a 200 mile round trip but unfortunately Taylor does not want me to do that.

I have advised Taylor not to post on here for a while, to just come on the forum and read the posts and if he has any questions about tortoise care or hustbandry then to PM one of the mods.

Taylor has caused up roar on this forum which I nor any of the Mod/Admin team can condone.

Taylor continues to assure me that he wants to give Looi the best care possible, I am sincerely hoping that Taylor means this, and if infact he does mean it then he will take Looi to the vets for an MOT and let me know the results.

There is a divide here becoming apparent which is starting to make small holes in the forum between animal welfare and child welfare , this forum is dedicated to animal welfare and feelings are very strong for this subject, Now the subject in question has been an on going issue for a year with the death of two animals The child welfare issue isn't my concern sorry harsh yes but that’s his parents problem mine is saving a sickly tortoise before it too goes through the same miserable long and lengthy death as the other two.
Now I am sorry the owners of these animals have difficulties money wise which to me means they shouldn't have got them in the first place tortoises are wild animals needing correct environmental care not toys for a lonely child which these little animals have become, using them as means of drawing attention to himself .
I am afraid I don't believe a word this person says as he has said in numerous threads he will correct the tortoises environment and has done nothing at all,
He has had constant offers of help from all quarters for a YEAR and in this year his animals have been seen suffering he has promised to take advise and do something but nothing happened ,now Debs and Sarah have done a wonderful job buying the equipment for Taylor and I must add another member Claire also sent uvb lighting equipment when this subject first came to light a year yes a whole year ago a year we have watched these animals dieing, but unfortunately it seems we where to late as MBD had set in and care still wasn't efficient enough to help combat the problem so to late and now a second animal has died , remember these are wild animals not domestic pets they have specific requirements that must be met and if they aren't well you know the story.
They would be better off without any animals to be honest.
This subject has now been taken off site with the relevant authorities being involved sorry I wont be able to post up the out come but fingers crossed the law takes this matter seriously.
Now folks this is what I think we should do, I'm not locking this thread but would appreciate not adding unless you have a vital disagreement that can be answered with some diplomatic view rather than pressuring the child as you can see and what I have stated there is a divide happening and this is something I don't want to happen to this usually enjoyable forum.
Not much else we can do we have all tried are best , Taylor isn't’t banned from the forum as we want to see how poor Looi fares , but if we have any posts regarding silly attention seeking then matters will be taken in hand and a ban may have to be taken .
So too the members who are leaving due to this subject and its disagreements We all from SW wish you luck with your tortoises and hope you find a forum where its peaceful and fun at all times
Darren
