If the entire outer membrane that surrounds the contents is intact infection is not a problem.

...but the inner membrane surrounding the internal mass does appear to be in tact. That is no loose blood or yolk.

I would think keeping the external humidity up without covering anything is the best way. A hydrophilic jelly might work.

Thanks everyone.

I have gone the petroleum jelly way, if it dies will it start to look like the other ones that died (see link below)?
http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=48466
if so it doesnt look like that yet

in regard to the membrane, hopefully it is not broken, there was some bits of broken egg that i had to use tweezers to remove so possible i could have broken the membrane, time will tell

i think development was in about the first month but a bit of a guess.

if this happens again (and i hope it doesnt), should i try and remove all egg shell bits including very small bits? could leaving them in affect the development?

I had another egg laid the other day so some good news

Thanks

Would suggest the smell would tell you and the lack of development. Is it still alive?

The development was much further along than a month. The empryo seems to have developed color.
