Default What Subspecies Are My Hermanns

Heyy all!

I have a first question concerning subspecies. As I want to buy a male, at least, we are led to believe we have 4 females already, it's important we know the correct subspecies.
Anyway, I've made pictures from them, regrettable with a low life mobile camera, as we don't have a real camera
If you want/need/like better pictures, that can be arranged. I will find a way

I think we have 4 boettgeri's. But I'm no expert in turtles.
I've read the first post with care and felt they look the most similar to them.

Turtle "2" is about a year old,
Turtle "1" and "4" are likely two years and,
Turtle "3" is likely three years.
We have a doubt about the age of "4", she could be 3 as well.

If you say/feel otherwise about age, sex or subspecies, let me know!
I wish to be on spot with these fellows.

Ow, and ofcourse! Thanks in advance I'd appreciate the effort

Our little ones

The big bad bullies... nah

#2 possible Male, T. h. boettgeri
#3 possible Female, T. h. boettgeri
#4 possible Female, T. h. boettgeri

Thank you Danny and LYNNEE.

They were sold to us as being hermanni hermanni, but reading on the internet brought me a lot of doubt, as they are much rarer.

Number #2 is the youngest and littlest, by far. And as far as I know, a bigger tail size and a "hollowed out" (in lack of better English from my side) instead of smooth belly are related to male specimen. Correct?

I'm not experienced enough to say if the tail is slightly bigger than usual as I have no comparison. The belly on the otherhand is as smooth as with the others.

Thats right Soph, but some T.h.hercegovinensis have it also. Just that in T.h.hercegovinensis it's short and squat and in T.h.boettgeri it's long and skinny.

A bigger tail size relates to male but the 'hollowed out belly' I think relates to female, at least it does with my females.

Dan will know
