I don't see how viv's are big enough tbh , for one there way to small tortoise's are roaming animals and need plenty of space to exercise properly .
I use 10 1/2 ft x 4ft tables and 16ft greenhouse's with plenty of outdoor space .

People don't have enough space for that I know we don't here the table I'm just finishing off now isn't as big as I would like buy it will ride him over its got more length slightly less width but it will be much more open when me and the fiancée move out well have much more space to have bigger tables

I agree, it depends who you ask. I would never use a viv for a med species, but may do so for a tropical tortoise. Our tables and sheds are far bigger than any viv could ever be and in my opinion they are far too small to house a tortoise. When the depth is only a matter of a few inch I dont think it is a suitable environment for my tortoises, thats my choice but I know others dont agree.

In the US it's becoming a common thing, although called closed chambers. As well as for forest/forest edge torts, they use it for Leopards, Sulcatas and sometimes Hermanni and Graecas

Just coz they use them in America doesn't mean we have to here, closed chambers just about sums it up!

Not necessarily agreeing with it just something to think about.

I also don't like the lack of space provided by them I don't see how they have the height for breeding groups so a good nest can be dug. I have considered them in the past for my stars... but decided not to cos if it ain't broke don't fix it. Mine are all on tables... the largest table I have being 7ft by 4ft. I do think if you haven't got the space... don't keep the animals... so shoot me.

Geordie mark... you will find that this forum now allows all opinions to be heard... some get offended by this... and don't like change... but it's the way its going to be from now on... this forum is not a dictatorship.
I agree with that, if you don't have the space then don't keep the animals. Sounds harsh but its fairer on the animal in the long run

[QUOTE=cherylahutch;604981] if I put them in tables they would be really cold in the winter.QUOTE]

I hibernate in winter so that isn't a problem...
