big Ted - one for sulcata fans!
introducing Ted and some of his mates.
a meal out with his girlfriend . . . . imagine 13 stone on your back . . ..!! Ted is one of my adult male sulcatas. he's about 16 years old. weighs 80 kg & is 32" long thankfully he's got a fantastic, laid back temperament & is very friendly. he eats about 3 carrier bags of grass & weeds a day & is a strong lad - he can easily walk around with a child on his back. Wow that tortoise is so huge! My hermanns would be like small insects next to him. He does look to have quite a large meal in front of him too but I guess a tortoise that size needs a lot more food.
Nice photos

Ted is fantastic. How on earth do you find enough weeds to feed him? I'd struggle to fill three carrier bags a day around here.

That's great, I'm picking up a couple of baby Sulcata's this weekend, I'm so excited!!! I have room and have thoroughly researched everything but any hints or tips would be very very welcome, I always prefer hearing first hand rather than just reading about it.
