The more I go out with him the more confident I am getting and letting him walk about - obviously still so I can see him or get him quickly. Always better when there are a few people there too. As you say easy to be demented with it and lose reality. I have found good spots to sit as well with experience. He does love a wander around - quick as anything

I lost an 8" turtle to a bird once, well it was lifted out of the pond dropped on the road and died, I know turtles tend to be lighter but it has made me pretty cautious! Mine have a netted enclosure or wire rabbit run! I seem to get lots of crows and magpies in my garden too when the cats aren't out!
