Keeping my fingers crossed that you find your little one. I do hope the older one will be ok too. Thinking of you.

Oh no how aweful for you. These urban foxes are becoming a real menace something has to be done. They are very dangerous. I realy hope you do not have this experience again. Please be aware as once they find prey they may return. They find and stick to a set route to travel each night. We have a male walks down our street during the night he barks on his way to inform others he's around I have seen him on several occasions. Yes it's amazing to see him but I would rather see him in the country where they belong.

Sorry to hear about your tortoises. Unfortunately its just one of those things that can happen when you least expect it to.

I did see a guy on TV who put some human hair (from the hairdressers) into old stockings and tights. He then hung them on his fence and around his chicken coup, as the foxes are scared by the scent of humans. It may be worth a try as its certainly the cheapest option.

There are a lot of urban foxes around in certain cities but its not really the foxes fault, its the people who feed them intentionally or unintentionally by dropping food in the street. I live in a town which is surrounded by country but I barely see any at all touch wood.

Good news!!!!

I found my little one again.
She was far away and outside her enclosure, but still in the garden, burried deeply under a plant. The fox must have given up playing with her after a while and she did the senible thing and went down under.
Both torties appear unharmed.
I brought the littlies in now for the winter. The bigger one will stay outside and I just have to hope that the fox has lost interest. I can't cover up my whole garden, but I like the idea of the human hair trick. I'll try that one.

Many thanks to all of you for your advice and kind words.
Julia
