I have sat and counted the scutes (cos I'm bored and got nowt better to do... ) and in both photos there are 5 rows of scutes. But in the 5th row in the German photo there is a black mark in both of the 5th scutes (anal scutes) but in Pagani's photo there is only 1 black mark in 1 of the 5th scutes......

So come on Sarah, over to you - have you got a clearer photo of those darn scutes, can you see from the original photo if it is indeed the light playing tricks on the old boy ( ) or do I owe him a mega apology.....

I still stick to two black marks on the anal scute of the german tort...... (if there's a god up there please make me right cos that Terry'll never let me forget it if I'm wrong.........)

There are definatly 2 black marks on the anal scutes of the german picture there is slight light reflection. i will get you a clearer picture to help clear up the matter.

I feel really proud of myself - not smug - just proud as it shows I have learn't something from Shelled Warriors after all, spending all this time on the forum is educational! (Shame same theory doesn't work for uni!!!! )

Don't know for sure but it's a good chance. The carapace marking are very close if you look at the original scutes of the 2 of them. There are just slight differences which says to me they are probably siblings. Which would be very easy to mix up. I know because I always have to look back at pictures to tell mine apart sometimes.
