were do i get my tort chipped

i contacted my own vets this morning to get my tortoise microchipped however says they dont do it were in walsall can i get this done

I've been told it's more size rather than age, when I bought my tort I was told 10cm and only if neccessary

10cm or four inchs, which if the tortoise has been grown slowly and smoothly is far too small.
As the chips are large in comparison. I only ever get mine chipped if they are of breeding age,
and I intend to breed from them. Otherwise I wouldnt bother, as its putting a strange object
into tortoises.

its £22.50 to get tort chipped what age is breeding age my trt is 4 years old

what size are the chips, as I've had my dog chipped and she yelped when I did her, and she never cries having injections. Hers was the size of a grain of rice, and I can feel where it is. Surely it wouldn't be the same size for a tort?

there the same as a grain of rice dont know if im doing right from wrong i want to change her paper work in my name before i can do this i have to get her chipped as her plastron lenght is more than 100mm as stated in her paper this must be done

Sandy, do you mind me asking if you don't bother with chipping does that mean that your torts don't have adult article 10 papers or did you get them before Defra demanded chipping papers to get the adult cert, if we don't keep the paperwork up to date then surely how do we know that the animal was captive bred and where it came from, at least if its chipped and we accidently loose the paperwork the cert numbers could be traced from the chip id number, if the baby cert was lost how can you get new paperwork without the cert number or could the tort be issued with a totally new cert number, if we want to be able to distinguish between those who are captive bred and those wild caught then the paperwork is the only way we can do this otherwise we only have the owners word where the animal came from, also if all torts were chipped and up to date then thats going to make the stealing and ilegal selling of them less desirable that has to be a good thing.
