Personally I always found the 50/50 soil sand mix a little dry and quick to dry out when moistened, I just used sterilised top soil only now. I find my hatchlings tend to dig down more in that ratio too

I use for all my tables and have been very pleased with it, despite it being dearer it is consistant in quality and the same as topsoil etc if sprayed isn't dusty. I have used topsoil in the past but find that what you get is almost like pick and mix, I've had to sieve most of it and even found glass its also usually wet so unsuitable for use straight away. Pro rep is well worth at least having a look.

I use this and i love it. Its quick easy and the Torty can dig very well in it. The only thing i will say is it gets a little dry so a quick spray every other day with water is all i do.

I now use this after using top soil for some time. I must say I prefer the tortoise life and the torts don't seem to mind it eaither x
