"Running in" a pwoersun

Hi.
I know I have to run in my new powersun for 24 hours before I use it in my tortoise enclosure.
Can I do that in 2 x12 hours or 3x8 hours or does it need to be a straignt 24 hours?

Hi Chris

There shouldn't be a need to burn in a good quality self ballasted mvb lamp, see dazzas comments on page one of the thread below

if you do feel the need to do it I'd have thought any combination adding up to 12 hours would suffice but I've never measured any excessive levels from a new self ballasted mercury vapour lamp like a Exo terra or megaray. The burn in tends to be recommended for the compact UVB lamps.

Thanks for that-mine is a combined bulb. I think it says on the box it is self ballasted but I'll check
