Default Morocco and Me

Hello!!!!
I'm Adam and I'm Tidgy's dad.
It's my birthday today and this forum, which I joined some time ago, but don't think I've actually ever posted on, sent me a birthday greeting via e-mail.
I know this is probably an automated response but thank you very much anyway.
If I have posted an introduction before, please accept my apologies.
Morocco is, of course, one of the homes of Testudo graeca graeca, and, sadly, the numbers in the wild are ever decreasing, as they are taken as babies and sold in the markets as pets but also toys for children. Most don't live very long.
I had 2 Greeks as a child and they were with the family for 22 years before a cold winter claimed one in hibernation (she was an old lady before we got her).
The younger male 'vanished' while i was at university.
I rescued Tidgy 5 years ago as a baby, she was being used as a toy car by some children and one of her scutes had been cut out to use as jewellery. I took her in and began searching forums on tortoise care. After a long while she recovered, the wound healed and she is now the joy of my life.
I also help care for another dozen or so tortoises in my area and own an area of land in the South of the country with a protected breeding group of Testudo graeca soussensis.
I love cheese and sometimes wifey.
Nice to meet you all.
