firstly I'd not put slate or similar under the heat lamp as it can get far to hot, just have the soil under there, nothing else either that could catch fire, I always go by the surface temp and 37 is a bit high, 32-34c is usually sufficient. Also bear in mind that obviously as the substrate dries (assuming you spray at least once each day) it will get hotter and also any sun through the window will make the table hotter, so its better to be on the side of caution. Don't forget that only the basking area needs to be that warm the rest of the table is room temp or around 20c.
