People have different opinions and ways of doing things. Despite what almost everyone says, a well known reptile vet advises keeping tortoises in vivs up to the age of 2 years because he reckons the temperature and humidity is easier to control and that higher humidity helps prevent pyramiding in the vital first two years. He is also of the opinion that they should not even be for sale until they are 2 years old. That's his opinion whether right or wrong. I have never had a viv so wouldn't know. One thing that is for sure is that even in the UK people will have different ways of doing things just because of where they live. The south of England and the north of Scotland can be 2 months apart when it comes to weeds being available
