I was expecting them to be males when you said about their behaviour, but females will mount one another and demonstrate almost male-like behaviour to show dominance.
I find they usually settle down and continue co-sharing just fine.
Sometimes when they’re gravid they do this, but in your case I’d say one is a bossy madam. I find size has nothing to do with it either. My worst female for this sort of behaviour is the smallest!
